Once upon a time... a short story about Coconufi.

Hello!

Welcome! I am Almudena Carmichael, the person behind Coconufi.

My love and passion for fibres, yarns and knitting commenced at 7 years old when visiting my grandmother, she taught me how to knit and since then I can't remember a moment I haven't been surrounded by yarn.

I am a knitter, definitely, I knit practically every day, its my daily yoga! but often I do love crocheting (especially in summer), spinning, weaving, sewing... anything related to fibres and fabrics is always at my heart.

Coconufi is a progressive humble project where we try to bring this passion for yarns to everyone, from beginners looking to learn something new to avid pros in search for latest yarns/patterns, and to show the world the broad benefits needle work has on mind, body and soul.

My background in Fashion & Textiles has been a great tool to appreciate colour combinations, fibre compositions, trends etc . And that, for as long as I can remember, has always been my constant romance. It’s true. Open my handbag. You might find lipstick, but more likely you’ll find yarn and fabric swatches. To me, hand knitting reflects a beautiful way of creating fashion. The kind of fashion I will always love. Simply making things you will keep for years, and everything is engaged in quality and creativity.

I learn something new every day, and every day I make intentional choices and carefully consider what impact those choices will have. I try to set the bar high. Not only do I care deeply about our planet, I care very much about the people who are connected to me and my work. From the subcontractors I work with, to the least frequent follower/customer, I strive to create, associate, and communicate in a way that will allow everyone to feel welcomed, respected, and valued.

Currently based in Surrey, UK, I’m trying to bring for you the best high quality yarn and inspire you with the infinite possibilities that needlework offers. It is really important to me to search designs that are not just the latest trend but timeless investments meant to elevate your most favorite pieces. If I can support the evolution of your personal style in that way, I’m so happy.
